King Gizzard‘s new “rave” album Alien Metal finds the Aussie psych group diving headfirst into electronic dance music. It’s out later this summer and the release date is still TBA, but they’ve just shared the album’s title track.
“Alien Metal” was written on the band’s custom-built modular synth, Norman, and manages to still sound like the band, who have released microtonal rock and thrash albums while also going fully rave. You can check out the visualizer for it below.
King Gizzard will be in the US in August for their Field of Vision festival in Colorado before heading to NYC for three nights at Forest Hills Stadium: 8/20 & 8/21 are rock shows with Die Spitz and DJ Crenshaw opening, while 8/23 is a rave show. They’ll also play a rave show at Under the K Bridge on 8/24 with .VIRL opening. Additionally, they’ve got Australian dates in October and those are listed below
