We didn’t have to wait long to find out what Aphex Twin was teasing. It’s not a new record, but a reissue of 1994’s Selected Ambient Works Vol II. This is a 30th anniversary edition which is available as a 4-LP set, a 3-CD set and a deluxe $300 4-LP box set. They’re out October 4 via Warp.
The limited edition box set features a fold-out poster, sticker sheet and booklet featuring artwork development sketches by Paul Nicholson and is housed in a hinged oak case, with a bespoke etched copper plate. No two copies are the same and each are made to order. If you want one you’ll need to order by June 24 at 5 AM Eastern (which is 10 AM British time).
All versions of the Selected Ambient Works Vol II (which, unlike his first Selected Ambient Works album, is mostly beatless) collect all the tracks that were released on various formats back in 1994, bringing them all together for the first time on one massive release.
