Oasis aren’t the only band who have been teasing a big announcement; Linkin Park have had a countdown clock going on their website and social media, and Sum 41 vocalist Deryck Whibley told people to tune in Wednesday morning (8/28) for some news. That’s the same time Linkin Park’s countdown clock finishes, which ended up sparking speculation that Deryck would be revealed as Linkin Park’s new singer, following the 2017 death of Chester Bennington. As good a guess as it is, Deryck assures that’s not what’s happening.
“I feel the need to dispel some current rumors,” he writes in a new social media post. “It’s been brought to my attention that many people think I could be joining a reuniting band. But I just want to say, despite popular belief, I am not joining Oasis…. or Linkin Park. Or any other band for that matter.”
“I have my own ‘tour and book’ announcement that I will now move to the end of the week, ahead of our US tour,” Whibley continues. “I do look forward to seeing whatever both these amazing bands do in the future.”
Whiibley’s memoir Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell comes out on October 8 via Gallery Books, and he’ll go on a brief book tour for it starting that day, at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall with moderator Kevan Kenney. Tickets are on sale now, and you can see all dates below.
Sum-41’s tour, their last, resumes on September 3 in San Francisco and wraps up with a Canadian run in January of 2025 with Gob and PUP. See all dates below.
