In 2019, a mysterious campaign, including a personal beliefs survey and a new song, suggested the return of Fireworks. The members regrouped behind the scenes to start work on their fourth album, Higher Lonely Power, which was subsequently delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By spring 2022, they completed the album which significantly deviates from their prior sound and ventures into experimental alternative rock. The band members enjoyed creative freedom while making the album, disregarding pressure from external entities and focusing solely on their individual influences. Their latest work includes tracks like the snarling "God Approved Insurance Plan," the anthemic "Blood in the Milk," and explores themes like mortality and the power of theocracy. Band member Chris Mojan described the creative process as an outlet for authenticity and stressed the importance of not letting outside influences affect their music. Despite their evolution, Fireworks sees this new phase as growth and development rather than a rebirth.
