Tunde Adebimpe has been having a pretty big year. On the music side, his band TV on the Radio are back, having just played four nights at NYC’s Webster Hall, with LA and London shows on the horizon. He’s also signed a solo deal with Sub Pop, and dropped his first single for the label earlier this fall.
Tunde’s acting career is really starting to take off, too. After years appearing in mostly indie films like Rachel Getting Married and Jump Tomorrow, he hit the big time this summer with a memorable supporting role in the blockbuster Twisters, and now he’s a cast member of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, the new series set in the Star Wars universe that’s out on Disney+.
Here’s the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew synopsis: “Skeleton Crew tells the story of four kids searching for their home planet after getting lost in the Star Wars galaxy, and the strange aliens and dangerous places they encounter on their adventure.” Tunde plays Wendle, father to one of those four kids (Ravi Cabot-Conyers). The series was created by John Watts & Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: Homecoming) also stars Jude Law, Nick Frost, Kerry Condon and more. Watch the trailer, which features Tunde, below.
Tunde posted about Skeleton Crew today on his Instagram, sharing a picture of himself as a kid wearing a Star Wars belt buckle. “First two episodes are up and they’re great,” he wrote. “INCREDIBLY psyched to be a part of this show, and very excited for everyone to check it OUT. Huge congrats to all involved, it’s a very special one ✨🚀🏴☠️🚀✨”
