John Mulaney‘s ‘Everybody’s in LA‘ talk show, which aired live on Netflix for six episodes during the Netflix is a Joke festival in May 2024, was one of last year’s best shows, bringing a manic sense of “anything could happen” for one of the most free-wheeling, exciting and hilarious talk shows since the early days of Conan O’Brien. Since it aired, anyone who saw it has hoped it would return in some form and it is. Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney is a weekly talk show that will air live on Netflix, premiering Wednesday, March 12 at 10 PM Eastern / 7 PM Pacific.
“We will be live globally with no delay. We will never be relevant. We will never be your source for news. We will always be reckless. Netflix will always provide us with data that we will ignore.” Mulaney said at Netflix’s annual showcase of upcoming programming on Wednesday. You can expect pretty much what we got with Everybody’s in LA, with Richard Kind returning as the show’s announcer/sidekick, a very big couch with unexpected guest pairings, live calls from viewers, and delivery robot Saymo, plus taped skits and musical guests.
“This will be the one place where you could see Arnold Schwarzenegger sitting next to Nikki Glaser sitting next to a family therapist with music by Mannequin Pussy,” Mulaney said at the announce event. “That’s just a brief sampling of guests. We don’t know if we can lock in Mannequin Pussy, but we are in talks with them.”
“This is a really fun experiment,” he added. “Not since Harry and Meghan has Netflix given more money to someone without a specific plan.”
