Comedy icon, actor and filmmaker Carl Reiner died on Monday night at his Hollywood home, according to TMZ. He was 98.
His comedy resume was enormously long: he co-created classic ’60s sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show; with lifelong friend Mel Brooks he made one of the most famous comedy albums of all time (The 2000 Year Old Man); and he directed many of Steve Martin’s early films, including The Jerk, The Man with Two Brains, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, and All of Me; and so much more.
Carl was an active social media user and just yesterday was wishing Mel Brooks a happy 94th birthday.
Rest in peace, Carl. You were irreplaceable. May we all live as long and do 10% of what you did.
