The 2025 Emmy Award nominations were announced today, and Severance led the pack with 27 nominations, followed by The Penguin with 24. The Studio and The White Lotus each got 23 noms, The Last of Us got 16, Andor and Hacks each got 14, and Adolescence, The Bear and The Pitt each got 13.
On the music front there were a few notable nominations: Kamasi Washington was nominated for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for Adult Swim’s Lazarus, where he’s competing against Hamilton Leithauser for Your Friends & Neighbors, DEVO’s Mark Mothersbaugh for The Residence, Cristobal Tapia de Veer for White Lotus Season 3, Carlos Rafael Rivera for Department Q, and Volker Bertelmann for Dune: Prophecy.
In the Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming, nominees include Kendrick Lamar‘s Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show (Charm La’Donna, Choreographer), Beyoncé Bowl (Tyrik Patterson, Choreographer Charm La’Donna, Choreographer Christopher Grant, Choreographer Parris Goebel, Choreographer), The 67th Annual Grammy Awards • Routine: Doechii Musical Performance (Robbie Blue, Choreographer), The Lion King At The Hollywood Bowl (Jamal Sims, Choreographer), The Oscars • Routines: James Bond Tribute / Quincy Jones Tribute (Mandy Moore, Choreographer).
Questlove got three Emmy noms: Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program (for Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music), Outstanding Music Direction (for SNL50: The Homecoming Concert), and Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special (for Sly Lives!).
The 2025 Emmys will be given out September 14 at LA’s Peacock Theater with host Nate Bargatze. They’ll air live on CBS and stream via Paramount+.
