Yelle cancels North American 20th anniversary tour

UPDATE (7/16): North American dates for Yelle’s 20th anniversary tour have been canceled. “The current political climate in the US, especially in regard to immigration and freedom of speech, is very worrying,” Yelle says. “We are now traveling as a family with our young child, so more than ever, we need to feel safe,” adding in what is surely a huge factor as well, “the overall costs of this tour are becoming barely possible to balance and it is putting a great financial burden on us.” Read Yelle’s full statement below.

Previously: French group Yelle, whose singer is also named Yelle and made a splash in the mid-’90s with “Je veux te voir” and their cover of “A cause des garçons,” will be celebrating their 20th anniversary on tour this year. They’ve announced a short North American run this fall, hitting DC, NYC, Montreal, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. All dates are below.
