Ween have announced that they will “step away from the stage for the foreseeable future,” and have cancelled their Philadelphia Chocolate and Cheese 25th anniversary show scheduled for TD Pavilion at the Mann on September 27. “Despite three great shows this summer, it’s become clear that touring and performing is too taxing on Deaner’s mental health to continue,” they write. “As always, we thank you for the love, dedication and ongoing support.”
The band previously cancelled dates of their 40th anniversary tour in August and April, with Dean Ween writing in a March statement, “At this moment in time though I need to step away from performing live in order to preserve my mental and spiritual well being, and instead focus on myself and loved ones.”
Gene Ween also shared a message in August, writing, “I’ve been getting tons of messages, know that I’m perfectly fine and just as disappointed.”
