It’s been a big week for punk and sports crossovers. Turnstile threw the first pitch for the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday (8/8). Guitarist Pat McCrory, who actually threw the pitch, said in an interview at Camden Yards, “Their season right now is inspiring some songs. We honestly might have a demo already somewhere waiting, you just have them get ahold of us.” Watch that clip and more videos of Turnstile at the game and doing an on-field interview below.
One day earlier in San Francisco, Golden State Warrior Steph Curry joined Paramore onstage at Chase Center. He joined Hayley Williams in singing “Misery Business,” revealing himself as a huge fan–he sang the bridge solo before Hayley joined in for the chorus. Watch that video below too.
Paramore were also just nominated for an MTV VMA for their “This Is Why” music video, which was directed by Turnstile vocalist Brandon Yates. Paramore’s tour of the same name continues through 2024, with only a handful of American dates left before they head to Australia and Europe. They’ll be in NYC on October 6 for a talk and performance at Webster Hall, as part of The New Yorker Festival. Turnstile have a handful more festival appearances lined up for the year as well.
