Watch The Chameleons’ video for 1st new single in 23 years, “Where Are You?”; North American tour starts tonight

The Chameleons just released the Where Are You? EP, which is the Manchester post-punk legends’ first new music in 23 years and the first taste of a new album that will hopefully be out later this year. They’ve made a video for the hard-charging title track, which was directed by Martin Swinney at Periscope.

“The band was scattered to the four winds at the time so a more traditional form of video was out of the question given the time frame,” frontman Mark Burgess tells us. “So we went with a more abstract collage and tried to convey the compulsion many of us have to search through life for the things that we feel define us, in this case true love, or moments of connection to each other, or elements that hint of a deeper reality. Where Are You? You that punctuate meaning in my life. ”

The video premieres here:

The Chameleons’ North American tour, where they’re playing their 1986 album Strange Times in full, starts tonight (5/30) in San Diego and the first leg wraps up June 20 in Phoenix. They’ll be back later in the summer for the second leg, including a NYC stop at Webster Hall on August 16 with Vision Video and A Cloud of Ravens. All dates are below.
