London band Warmduscher are known for their sleazy vibe and tales of the seedier side of town; they are still living in the gutter on their fifth album, Too Cold to Hold, but they’ve spruced the place up a bit, with rather luxe production by the band’s Ben Romans Hopcraft and Jamie Neville, and guest appearances from Lianne La Havas, Confidence Man’s Janet Planet, Jeshi, Coucou Chloe and Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh. Says Ben: “Working with producers outside of the group has always been an important part of understanding who we are as a band. However, approaching this record, I think we have all grown in confidence and ability when it comes to recording ourselves. Given that everyone in the band is a producer in their own right, it only seemed inevitable that we would get to this point. Also, as people, we’ve probably become a bit more grown-up and are able to enter a creative scenario with each other and respect where we’re all coming from without throwing toys out of the pram. The melting pot of influences that shape our identity on this record is so personal to us that getting someone out of context would almost seem like creating unnecessary problems. So, with the help of my good friend and co-producer Jamie Neville (of Teeth Studios), we were able to focus on how to embrace the influences of the album without putting it through a funnel that needed to be understood by others.”

We asked Irvine if he would be interested in introducing our latest album after spending time with him in multiple cities and venues. He sent us this almost straight back and we couldnt be more honored with his narrated journey of his experience on the other side.

This song is the other side of fashion, the side where people live and breathe it and cannot afford it. The ones that go out and steal to look nice, the ones that work the 9-5 and live for the weekends.
Pure At The Heart:
Just trying to capture that amazing moment when the lights come on in the club and you look around and theres only a handful of you left, your friends are gone but you dont want to go home, and you meet one or two like minded people and extend the adventure.
Top Shelf:
The age old tale of one person thinking they want something else, changing their situation only to want to get back into the original situation and inevitably ending up in a much worse situation. Love what you got!
Cleopatras:
A tale of energy sucking aliens that convene at a brother deep in Willesden Junction conducting social experiments on the heart of the city.
Body Shock:
The beautiful dance of the night time workers and seekers of the other side of life. Making it anyway you can and living 200% in the moment.
Immaculate Deception:
A tale of a misunderstood holy man with an idea that makes sense only in his mind. He’s dedicated his life to facilitating the second cumming of Christ because he wants to world to believe and he wants them all to know his name. Paul. Unfortunately leaving his soul on toilet seats in public places in hopes that one Mary will sit on the throne and bring forth the immaculate conception is not only illegal its scientifically difficult.
Staying Alive:
A working class anthem designed by the ones waiting at schools and selling careers in war to the youth of today while their parents work for a system that keeps them going with positive propaganda and synthetic solutions when all else fails.
Too Cold To Hold:
Set in modern day London when it’s too expensive to turn on your heat and your watching your breath blow in your little room, freezing cold but ready to hit the streets and keep it moving, its just the simple tale of getting up when its all down.
Out of Body:
A love song about the beauty of stepping out into the world for that very first time. Shedding your 18 year old skin and getting ready to grow those feathers of experience in this crazy world we all live in.
Weeds in Your Garden:
A sing along for the ones that never quit, the ones that stay up late at night, the artists that dont stop working, the weeds that will forever grow in your gardens.
