Austin indie vets Voxtrot have been back since 2022 but they’ve now announced a new album, Dreamers in Exile — their first in nearly 20 years — which will be out February 27 via their own Cult Hero Records. In fact, it’s their first album since their 2007 debut, and it was produced and recorded by the band at bassist Jason Chronis’ Haunted Air Studio, with mixing duties performed by Dean Reid (Lana Del Rey, James Blake).
“In the green room before the last show of the reunion tour, we decided to make a new album,” says frontman Ramesh Srivastava. “There’s so much optimism on this record. We approached it by bringing the energy we wanted into the room. When you lead with enthusiasm, it’s magnetic, because it’s absolutely real.”
The album’s first single is “Fighting Back,” which sounds like classic Voxtrot and was lyrically inspired by Ramesh’s post-Voxtrot days as a courier in Los Angeles. “Musically, ‘Fighting Back’ echoes the catchy propulsiveness of early Voxtrot, but my favorite element is the cornucopia of synths peppered throughout,” says Ramesh. “Jason and I borrowed a Juno and went to town! I love the dark ’80s atmosphere, and whenever I hear it, I picture the crimson-lit bar scenes in American Gigolo, which were filmed at the Beverly Hills Hotel… where I distinctly remember the doorman shouting that I had ten minutes to make my delivery before he was going to tow my car.”

Voxtrot have also announced 2026 tour dates which include a Brooklyn show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 10. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 5 at 10 AM and all dates are listed below.
