UK sax/drums duo O. announce debut album, share “Green Shirt”

UK sax-drum duo O. have announced their debut album, WeirdOs, which will be out June 21 via Speedy Wunderground. Baritone saxophonist Joe Henwood and drummer Tash Keary made it with label owner Dan Carey, who helped them capture their live sound on record. “We’re just two people making a big sound, unafraid to give it our all when we play,” Joe says. “We’re interested in taking it to the limit – it’s something that comes naturally to us.”

The first single from the album is “Green Shirt,” which they describe as “a short rock/metal rinse out,” and add, “To match the distorted amp sounds coming from Joe, we put Tash’s drums through distorted guitar amps on this one. It’s named after Tash’s favourite green flannel shirt, that was lost several times and then eaten by a dog.”

The video for “Green Shirt,” which the duo directed, has gone to the dogs as well, specifically Speedy Wunderground staff pooch, Poppy, whose day here is sped up to match the song’s manic energy. Watch that below.

If you’re heading to Austin for SXSW next week, you can catch O. there.
