The Wedding Present have been celebrating the 35th anniversary of their 1989 album, Bizarro, by playing it on tour in the UK, and they’ve just announced they’ll be doing the same across the US and Canada in 2025. It’s their first North American shows in seven years. Making it even better, they’ll be joined by London-based band The Tubs, who will be playing their first-ever North American shows. That’s a great double bill.
“Bizarro was our second album, and you can hear on it how much we had learned from the experience of recording our debut, George Best,” says frontman David Gedge. “You only have to listen to something like ‘Bewitched’ to notice that there’s much more in the way of texture and depth on Bizarro. We’d just improved as songwriters and arrangers, basically. It’s no less frenetic a record, though!”
Dates kick off May 16 in Austin and includes a Brooklyn show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 23. Tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, November 15 at 10 AM local time. All dates are listed below.
This will be the second time The Wedding Present have toured Bizarro — the first was in 2010.
The Tubs will release their second album, Cotton Crown, on March 2 via Trouble in Mind.
