Indiepop greats The Softies (Rose Melberg and Jen Sbragia) have announced their fourth album, The Bed I Made, which is also the duo’s first in 24 years. It’s out August 23 via Father/Daughter.
The first single from the album is “I Said What I Said;” in Softies’ tradition, it’s sweet and sad and very pretty. They say: “Over the course of our 30 year friendship there were bound to be experiences that would befall us both, sometimes at the same time, sometimes years apart. ‘I Said What I Said’ is a song that encapsulates a shared desire for escape, a push towards forward momentum and unapologetic self-forgiveness for not always being able to speak the truth.” Watch the video below.
The Softies will be on tour this fall, including a Brooklyn show at Public Records on October 2 with Rebecca Schiffman (tickets). All dates are listed below.
