The Saints ’73-’78 are carrying on the spirit of Aussie punk icons The Saints, and feature original members Ed Kuepper and Ivor Hay backed by an impressive trio of Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Mick Harvey (Birthday Party, Bad Seeds) and Peter Oxley (Sunnyboys). (Original frontman Chris Bailey died in 2022.) They play songs from The Saints’ (I’m) Stranded (1977), Eternally Yours (1978), and Prehistoric Sounds (1978), and have just announced North American dates, which are listed below.
“The Saints’ first three albums rank among the best records ever made,” says Mark Arm. “They have been a part of my life since stumbling upon them in the early 80s. Their influence looms large in Mudhoney world. I am stoked, stunned, and humbled that I get to join in on this Rock ‘n’ Roll Reality Camp with Ed, Ivor, Peter and Mick!” You can watch them do “No Time” below.
According to the press release, “The November tour will be the first time the material from the original band and their three albums, plus respective EPs and singles, will have ever been performed in the USA.”
The tour kicks off November 5 in Los Angeles and includes a stop at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on 11/14. Tickets for all dates of the tour go on sale Friday, February 21 at 10 AM local time.
