San Francisco’s The Reds, Pinks & Purples are keeping on their very prolific track, announcing a new album, Unwishing Well, that will be out April 5 via Slumberland / Tough Love. Glenn Donaldson keeps it gloomy — wouldn’t want it any other way — with titles like “What’s Going On With Ordinary People,” “We Only Hear The Bad Things People Say,” and “Dead Stars In Your Eyes.”
The first single from the album is a great example of the RPPs worldview, a look at the concessions of pop stardom through an outcast’s eyes titled “Your Worst Song Is Your Greatest Hit.” Over dreamy, grey-skied guitar and synth washes, Donaldson laments, “Your first idea got watered down,” adding, “Only the worst parts could be found.” Listen below.
