Patti Smith will be celebrated at the 2025 edition of City Winery founder and CEO Michael Dorf‘s annual “The Music Of…” benefit, which happens on March 26 at Carnegie Hall. Since announcing the initial lineup back in November, they’ve made some additions, including The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, Susanna Hoffs, Glen Hansard, Jesse Malin, and Jim Jarmusch (who will read some of Patti’s writing and poetry). They’ll join previously announced artists Michael Stipe, Kim Gordon and Bill Nace, The National‘s Matt Berninger, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, Sharon Van Etten, Ben Harper, Courtney Barnett, The Kronos Quartet, Angel Olsen, and The Kills’ Alison Mosshart.
They’ve also added Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tech and Charlie Sexton to the house band, which also includes Tony Shanahan and Lenny Kaye from Patti’s band, Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Flea, and Rolling Stones‘ Steve Jordan.
Tickets are on sale now, and proceeds go to music education programs for underserved youth.
They’ve also announced a rehearsal show for the benefit on Tuesday, March 25 at City Winery. It’ll feature the house band and unannounced guests from the lineup. Tickets go on sale Thursday, January 30 at 12 PM ET, with a presale for Vinofile members on Saturday, January 25 at 10 AM ET.
