The National & The War on Drugs played Forest Hills Stadium (pics, video, setlists)

The National and The War on Drugs recently began their co-headlining fall tour, which stopped in NYC on Friday (9/13) for a show at Forest Hills Stadium with Lucius. The National finished out the night, where they only played a few songs from their most recent albums — “Deep End (Paul’s in Pieces)” from Laugh Track, and “Alien,” “Eucalyptus,” and “Tropic Morning News” from First Two Pages of Frankenstein, both from last year. They did include a lot of older favorites, though, including “Mr. November,” “Fake Empire,” “Bloodbuzz Ohio,” “Terrible Love,” “The Geese of Beverly Road,” and more. Lucius came out to join them for “Rylan,” and they ended the night with a big full crowd acoustic singalong to “Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks.” The War on Drugs stuck mostly with songs off their most recent album, 2021’s I Don’t Live Here Anymore, including “Harmonia’s Dream,” “Occasional Rain,” and the title track, and 2014’s Lost in the Dream, including “Red Eyes” and “Under the Pressure.” They also played “Pain” from 2017’s A Deeper Understanding, and brought out Lucius for I Don’t Live Here Anymore‘s title track (Adam Granduciel also joined them for “Old Tape” during their opening set, which we missed).
