The dB’s reuniting with original lineup for 1st shows in 12 years; ‘Stands for Decibels’ getting first-ever US vinyl release

When North Carolina’s Hopscotch Festival announced its 2024 lineup, one of the things that caught our eye were power-pop greats The dB’s, who are reuniting with the original lineup; it will be their first show in 12 years. Happily, Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Will Rigby and Gene Holder will be playing a few more shows after Hopscotch, hitting DC, Philly, Jersey City, St Paul and Chicago. All dates are below.

The Jersey City stop is at White Eagle Hall on September 15, and tickets are on sale now.

The tour coincides with the first-ever US vinyl release of their great 1981 debut album, Stands for deciBels, which will be out June 7 via Propeller Sound Recordings. The album, which includes such classics as “Black and White,” “Cycles Per Second,” and “Big Brown Eyes,” has been remastered and is essential listening. Do that below.

The dB’s second album, the equally great Repercussion (also released in 1981), will be reissued on vinyl later this year. Stay tuned for details.
