The Damned enlist Tony Visconti to produce their new album

UK punk legends The Damned, who last played NYC in May, will be back in the city in October — not to tour, but to record their new album with producer Tony Visconti (Bowie, T-Rex, Sparks, Adam & The Ants). “We’ve never been predictable and well, neither has Tony,” say the band. “There will be a measure of experimentation and we know he’ll do his best to artistically challenge us. He’s been at the top of our producer list since we first started thinking about recording the album, dream come true he’s on board!”

In other news, The Damned have parted ways with bassist Stu West, and have welcomed back Paul Gray — who played on two of their best ’80s albums (The Black Album and Strawberries) — into the group. The new album is still untitled, but will be out in 2018 via Search & Destroy. Stay tuned.

The Damned, who toured North America in the Spring — where Captain Sensible broke a rib but still managed to play most shows — will be on tour in the UK in early 2018. Those dates are listed below.
