The Damned have announced the US leg of their Final Damnation 50 tour which celebrates the UK punk icons’ 50th anniversary. They say: “We’re calling it Final Damnation because, bearing in mind the advanced years of the participants it’s fairly unlikely we’ll undertake anything quite like this again.” All dates are below.
The current lineup of The Damned is terrific, featuring original members Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible and Rat Scabies, and early-’80s member Paul Gray. They add, “There’s the small matter of pride involved too.. in that the performance of this classic material has to reflect the genuine passion and raunch of the original recordings otherwise it just ain’t worth doing. The band are playing so well at the moment too.. we’re going to be performing an eclectic setlist chosen from right across the Damned’s career.”
The tour is with The Flamin’ Groovies and The Courettes, depending on the date and the NYC show happens at Brooklyn Steel on October 22 with both The Flamin’ Groovies and The Courettes. Tickets for all dates go on sale Friday, April 24 at 10 AM local time, with fan presales starting April 22 at 10 AM local.
The Damned’s tour includes a stop at CA’s Darker Waves festival with Smashing Pumpkins, Morrissey, Bad Religion, and more.
