The Clientele played Merge Records’ four-day 35th anniversary party in Carrboro, NC back in July and tucked away pass-holders’ festival bags was a new single from the band, pressed as a transparent blue flexidisc. That song, “Trains in the Night,” has now been released to streaming services.
An outtake from last year’s excellent I Am Not There Anymore, “Trains in the Night” is wistful, melancholic and peppered with perfect “bah bah bah” choruses. In other words, a Clientele song. Listen below.
