He’s best-known these days as an in-demand producer, but T Bone Burnett is also a singer and songwriter and he’s just announced his first solo album in two decades. It’s titled The Other Side and will be out April 19 via Verve Forecast. The album features vocal contributions from Weyes Blood, Lucius, and Rosanne Cash as well as the musical talents of Dennis Crouch, Stuart Duncan, Jay Bellerose, and Rory Hoffman.
Most of the songs on The Other Side were written after Burnett purchased a few new guitars. “Every time I picked one up, a song would pour out of it,” he says. “There were all these songs in these guitars. And they just came out over a three-week period.”
The first single from the album is “Waiting for You,” which features Lucius, and you can watch the video for that below.
T Bone Burnett has also announced his first concerts in 20 years: three shows within the span of a week in Nashville, including theaters and Third Man Records’ intimate The Blue Room. Those dates are listed below.
