When Sublime announced their upcoming Coachella 2024 performance, they revealed that they’d officially be performing under the name Sublime again, with the late Bradley Nowell’s son Jakob singing, putting an end to Sublime With Rome, the band that existed since 2009 with the surviving 2/3 of Sublime plus frontperson Rome Ramirez.
Now, Sublime With Rome have announced a farewell tour, which will feature Rome backed by a new lineup of musicians, none of whom were in Sublime. The band says:
Sublime with Rome family! We present to you the Sublime with Rome Farewell Tour. These last few shows are about celebrating the end of this special era and to commemorate a decade plus of music, memories, fun times, and electric shows. We can’t thank you all enough for being the greatest fans and coming along for the ride all these years.
We can’t wait to hit the road one last time with an incredible lineup of musicians to join Rome Ramirez, with Joe Tomino on drums, Brian Allen on the bass, and Gabrial McNair on the trombone.
Pre-sale starts Wednesday at 10am local time with the code FAREWELL and tickets go on sale everywhere this Friday, March 8th.
The other Sublime is also playing No Values and Oceans Calling, and Stereogum and Billboard report that some stuff is going on in their world too.
Sublime recently sued former attorneys Howard King, Peter Paterno and Joseph M. Carlone over allegations of “pattern of self-dealing,” and their former lawyers have countersued, arguing that the band has “falsely and maliciously” sued to get out of paying legal bills. They argue that the band still owes the firm $100,000.
The firm writes, “While Sublime had the right to terminate its lawyers at any time, it has no right to sidestep its responsibility to pay fees it incurred. Yet, in an obvious and pathetic attempt to do exactly that, plaintiffs, presumably at the prodding of reputationally challenged new advisors, have cynically elected to file a trumped-up preemptive malpractice suit falsely and maliciously accusing the law firm of conflicts of interest they claim caused them unspecified damages.”
