We recently posted lead single “Better Go” off Mal Blum‘s upcoming album for Don Giovanni, You Look A Lot Like Me, and here’s the premiere of a second track, “Robert Frost.” Like the first single, this leaves behind Mal’s softer anti-folk roots behind in favor of crunchier indie rock, not unlike Screaming Females or Swearin’, whose Marissa Paternoster and Kyle Gilbride produced and mixed/engineered this record, respectively. (Coincidentally enough, this is our second post in a row today about a record that Kyle worked on.) If you’re into that kinda stuff, Mal does it well. Check out “Robert Frost” below, and if you like what you hear you can pre-order the record (due out 10/2).
As previously mentioned, Mal has a bunch of tour dates coming up, including two in NYC. One is the You Look a Lot Like Me release show on October 5 at Knitting Factory with Adult Mom, Emilyn Brodsky and Painted Zeros (tickets); and the other is opening for Allison Weiss at Mercury Lounge on November 8 with Winter and Kid In The Attic. Tickets for Merc go on sale Friday (9/18) at noon.
