Berkeley, California’s Like Roses put out EPs in 2016 and 2018, but it seems like 2023 is shaping up to be the rising band’s biggest year yet. They finally returned with new music in June, a great two-song single called “Easy” / “Splenetic,” and tonight (10/30) they begin a tour supporting awakebutstillinbed (who they also opened for at Gilman in 2019 along with Pool Kids, Dikembe, Alien Boy, and Cool Original). The new songs find them making glossy, catchy pop punk with a bit of post-hardcore grit, and singer/guitarist Amy Schmalkuche has a soaring, powerful voice that really drives these songs home. Listen and watch the videos for both new tracks below.
The tour with awakebutstillinbed hits Brooklyn this Sunday (11/5) at Alphaville and that show is also one of many on the tour with Stay Inside (who also have two great new songs out this year). It’s also got local support from Sharkswimmer. Tickets are still available. All upcoming dates are listed below.
awakebutstillinbed’s new album just came out a couple of weeks ago and you can read our review of that here.
