Stereolab‘s first album in 15 years, Instant Holograms On Metal Film, is out this Friday, and they’ve just shared the final single before the whole thing is dropped. “Transmuted Matter” is light, groovy and very satisfying in that Stereolab way, with jazzy drumming, a killer bassline, vibraphone, interweaving harmonies, and lots of buzzy synths. Check it out below.
You can preorder Instant Holograms On Metal Film on double clear vinyl in the BV shop.
In celebration of the album, Stereolab are presenting listening parties at record stores around the world on Friday (5/23). There are a few cool limited edition swag freebies available for those in attendance on a first come, first serve basis: a button/pin/badge featuring art based on the cover of Instant Holograms On Metal Film; a two-sided print with Instant Holograms On Metal Film / catalog titles on the back; and a Stereolab logo sticker. Check out a pic of the swag below.
The NYC listening party is at Rough Trade Above at 6 PM. All listening party locations are listed in the poster below.
Stereolab are touring this fall with two Brooklyn Steel shows: October 1 with MEMORIALS, and October 2 with Dorothea Paas, Bitchin’ Bajas and Natural Information Society.
