Sparks announce new album & 2025 tour, share “Do Things My Own Way”

Art pop iconoclasts Sparks have announced their 28th studio album, which is titled MAD! and will be out later this year via Transgressive Records. (It’s their first for the label and first since 2023’s The Girl Is Crying in Her Latte.) Details on the album are still to come, but they’ve just released the first single, “Do Things My Own Way.” Ron and Russell Mael say the title has been “Our mantra since 1972, amplified in 2025.” The song pulls from baroque, glam and synthpop — aka it’s a Sparks song, and another great one at that. Not bad for band that’s been going for more than five decades. Listen below.

The Maels will take sparks on the road starting this summer, with dates announced across Japan, the UK, and Europe. Hopefully North American dates will be announced soon.
