Bay Area duo Sour Widows have announced their sophomore album. Sigil, the follow-up to 2024’s Revival of a Friend, is due out October 23 via Julia’s War. It was produced by Melina Duterte (Jay Som), and named from a dream that the band’s Susanna Thomson had. See the cover art and tracklist below.
They’ve shared the first single, “Blood in the Grass,” which Thomson wrote for Babehoven’s Maya Bon. “‘Blood In The Grass’ is about fate, creating family, and finding refuge in one another in times of spiritual and physical pain,” Thomson says. “It’s a gift to share pain with someone you love while you are alive because you can’t do that after you die. This song is set in the natural world because all living things are the same when they are born. In nature, the state of vulnerability is a fact that is fundamental to life and can’t be obscured.”
