Long-running NYC-based quartet Sō Percussion will play Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall this Saturday (12/2) for a show that’s part of the venue’s Fast Forward II series. They’ll be joined by Vijay Iyer (for the world premiere of Dharma-Eye), Angélica Negrón (for the NY premiere of Inward Pieces), and Olivier Tarpaga (for the world premiere of Fēfē), as well as Milena Casado, Beth Meyers, Amy Garapic, and Clara Warnaar. The quartet’s Jason Treuting will also present his piece Go Placidly with Haste. Tickets are on sale now.
Also coming up is the NY premiere of Bryce Dessner of The National‘s Concerto for Two Pianos, composed for and performed by Katia and Marielle Labèque on November 30 through December 2 at David Geffen Hall. Speaking about Dessner, Katia says, “I’d never met anyone like him, because he can articulate his music in both the classical and rock worlds with the same facility, the same passion. He’s not afraid to show all his love for different musics; Bryce is an amalgam of them all.” The program also includes Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances and R. Strauss’s Don Juan, and tickets are on sale for that, as well.
