Chicago band Smut have announced a new album, Tomorrow Comes Crashing, due out June 27 via Bayonet Records. It’s their first album with drummer Aidan O’Connor and bassist John Steiner joining vocalist and lyricist Tay Roebuck and guitarists Andie Min and Sam Ruschman, and they made it with Aron Kobayashi Ritch in Brooklyn. They’ve shared a new single, “Syd Sweeney,” inspired by its namesake actress. “Women in entertainment are exceptionally talented, smart and beautiful, because they have to be,” Roebuck says. “Sometimes they want to explore sexuality and vulnerability in their work. Then the pitchforks come out, how dare they be amazing AND sexual? You can only be one or the other! Why is talent and hard work seemingly erased once you’ve seen a woman naked?” Watch the video, directed by Joe Shaffer and Spencer Peppet, below.
