San Francisco’s Slowness make hypnotic dreampop that incorporates drone, pulsing basslines, gliding guitar textures and lovely harmonies into their sound. You can play spot the influence, but they’ve carved out their own corner of the ether. The band’s debut album, How to Keep from Falling off a Mountain, came out last year and was produced by Monte Vallier (Weekend, Soft Moon, Wax Idols) and features contributions from Luna guitarist Sean Eden. It’s well worth taking for a test drive and you can stream the whole thing below.
Slowness will be heading to the East Coast later this month for what appears to be a one-off NYC show at Union Hall on January 24. Similarly hazy bands Luff and Fixtures are also on the bill and advance tickets are on sale.
