Sad13 announces new mixtape of “1 minute long-ish songs” & shows, shares first 3 tracks

It’s been a few years since we’ve had new music from Sadie Dupuis, whether with her band Speedy Ortiz or with her Sad13 solo project, and she’s now announced a new mixtape from the latter. 1331, her first new Sad13 collection in over 5 years, is due out on July 10 via Exploding in Sound. It features “1 minute long-ish songs,” mostly written during spring of 2024, and she made it as the sole performer and recording engineer, the first time she’s done that on one of her projects in 15 years.

The mixtape’s recording was delayed when Dupuis shattered her elbow in a bike accident two years ago, suffering nerve damage. “My body didn’t have the juice,” she says, “but tracking in little bursts over more time gave me broader influences.” Hear the first three singles, “I Am Now Completely Invisible,” “Art Institute,” and “Watermelon Manicure,” below.

Dupuis has some shows lined up in July, starting with Brooklyn’s Union Pool on July 9 with New Idea Society and Russian Baths. See all dates below.
