Australia’s RVG are back with a new 7″ single featuring new original “Don’t Take It Badly” and a cover of Ramones‘ “Pet Sematary.” It’s their first new music since releasing last year’s Brain Worms, which won the 2023 Australian Music Prize.
“Don’t Take It Badly is a song about how change isn’t always a romantic thing and can sometimes feel pretty ugly,” says bandleader Romy Vager. “It’s a winter song that I wrote in the summer.”
As for the Ramones cover, Vager says “We all love the Ramones, and started playing this in rehearsal and it instantly clicked. The lyrics are such an underrated part of Ramones’ songs, there’s a lot of imagery in this song that I love dearly.”
