Burlington Robber Robber released their debut album, Wild Guess, this year and stayed busy playing loads of gigs (including BrooklynVegan’s New Colossus Fest showcase). They also listened to a lot of music and have given us their list of favorite songs of 2024.

ROBBER ROBBER – FAVORITE SONGS OF 2024
10. Cola – Tracing Hallmarks
We love no-nonsense music and this is that. We love guitar, bass and drums. Every person with a Fender bass guitar should listen to this record.
9. Pretty Sick – Violet
Whatever you think is “indie sleaze” this is probably way cooler than that. And more sleazy.
8. LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) & SURF GANG – OLD FRIEND
Cooper has the golden touch. His music is universal and emotional. This project has 11 songs and it’s only like 21 minutes long so you can listen to the whole thing twice in a row, which is exactly what we did the day it dropped.
7. Being Dead – Firefighters
Joyful music! The whole record is a playful, unserious and dynamic frenzy of popcorn chaos. This song has some crazy guitar tones and unexpected twists and turns and it feels good to hear it. Love a song where the bass is up front. Freaky stuff.
6. This is Lorelei – Perfect Hand
This is a certified coolguy headbobber and it sounds especially good when enjoyed in the context of the whole record. There’s something really potent about perfect things. What could be more perfect than a ball? This song is exactly 120 bpm which is the most perfect tempo.
5. Closebye – Lucky Number
There are two songs on this list that start off with someone screaming. This one is especially cool because it is the first song on the album. We were lucky to tour with Closebye this year. They’ve got one of the most powerful rhythm sections in music right now. They’re also very sweet people. Listening to Closebye is an ethical choice and will make you a better person.
4. Hemlock – Full
This song gets dangerously stuck in your head. We actually have to be careful when we listen to it because it’ll be in there for at least a couple days. The melodies through her entire record are brilliant and they’re each delivered with the confidence you can only earn through playing them each a million times. Carolina is a road dawg. Shout out to the city of Chicago.
3. Bladee – END OF THE ROAD BOYZ
This is the other song on the list that starts with screaming. Many flows here, unhinged in the right way. Bladee put out the most epic record this year and it was hard to choose which song to include. This is track 12 out of 30 and it plays a critical role in transforming the album into a deranged evil funhouse.
2. Allegra Krieger – Into Eternity
Very beautiful and sad and mesmerizing. We’ve been needing more songs like this with that minor key droning vibe. Spooky tambourine and her delivery is so nonchalant. I love playing this song super loud, it makes me nod my head like I’m listening to something much heavier, even though it doesn’t even have drums. A lot of people think her name is pronounced Allegra Krieger but it’s actually pronounced Allegra Krieger.
1. RXK Nephew – Critical Remix
“This is dog food in the smackhouse, not a weed house this a crackhouse” over a four on the floor disco type beat. Why didn’t we think of that? Crazy roster here. Tony Shhnow is always showing off his versatility, same goes for Neph. Sada Baby’s voice sounds beautiful as always. In 2025 the world needs more songs with a bunch of consecutive guest verses. This is your sign to get a cypher going with your friends.
