Burlington, VT band Robber Robber have announced their debut album, Wild Guess, which will be out July 26. Singer/guitarist Nina Cates and drummer Zack James co-produced the album and worked with engineers Benny Yurco (Grace Potter) and Urian Hackney (The Armed, Iggy Pop).
The album includes 2023 single “Sea of War” and they’ve just shared new single “Backup Plan,” which clanks with machinelike percussion in the verses before giving way to a blast of guitars in the chorus. “I wrote ‘Backup Plan’ while I was helping a friend through a sticky relationship moment and was reflecting a lot on when it’s worth putting in the effort and when it’s best to call it,” Cates says. “The song explores the feeling of unease that arises when you know there’s something unaddressed, yet you’re unsure if it’s worth stirring things up. I find this relevant in close friendships as well as relationships.” You can watch the video below.
Robber Robber played BrooklynVegan’s official showcase at NY’s New Colossus Festival in March; their only upcoming show is Brattleboro, VT’s Stone Church on May 29 where they’ll open for SUUNS.
