Izzy Hagerup has announced her new album as Prewn, the follow-up to 2023’s great Through The Window. It’s titled System and will be out October 3 via Exploding in Sound.
Hagerup describes the album as a “private journal made public,” adding, “This new album comes from a much more self-centered place, the stagnant aftermath of intensity and emotion. I think it came from a period of time that was more numb, hollow, and confused. More disassociated from heartfelt pain, more entrenched in a frustrating and aimless discomfort.”
The first single from System is the title track, which layers grungy guitars with nagging strings for a palpable sense of dread. “When I wrote ‘System’ I was supposed to be present and alive and gracious and happy,” Izzy says. “But somehow I couldn’t escape my own internal fears and depression that can follow me wherever I go.” You can watch the video below.
