Perfume Genius will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his third album, 2014’s Too Bright (one of our top albums of the 2010s) on tour this fall. He’ll play the album in full at a series of US shows in September, starting in Washington DC and wrapping up with two nights in Los Angeles. See all dates below.
The NYC show is at Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 17 (an intimate venue for him, and one that he played while on tour supporting Too Bright in 2014). Tickets to all dates go on sale Friday, June 7 at 10 AM local time.
“Too Bright was the first record I wrote without the intention of healing,” Mike Hadreas says. “I riled against my desire to soothe, I thought about pain as a weapon instead of something I needed to take on and sort through. It’s the scene in a movie where you walk away from a burning building smiling, not the scene where you sink all the way under in a bath to do a silent scream.”
There’s also a new crystal-clear vinyl reissue of the album on the way, due out on September 20 via Matador, and it’s available for pre-order now.
