Pavement have announced Cautionary Tales: Jukebox Classiques, a box set containing every 7″ they ever released, which will be out physically July 12 via Matador. (You can stream it now.) There are 18 records total, including music originally released via Treble Kicker, Drag City, Matador, Big Cat, and Domino, taking us from 1989’s Slay Tracks EP through 1999’s Major Leagues, plus the “Haunt You Down” and “Black Out” 7″s released for the expanded editions of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain and Wowee Zowee, respectively. All 18 releases have been “faithfully reproduced with original artwork,” though “Stereo” b-side “Birds In The Majic Industry” is now the full version (original b-side was an edited instrumental) and “Spit on a Stranger” now has new b-side “Harness Your Hopes (Live in Brixton),” as original b-side “And Then” was also featured on the European “Carrot Rope” single. There’s also a 24-page threaded saddle-sewn booklet “full discographical history.” If you’re wondering, the price tag is 148.73.
