New Wet Kojak, the ’90s/’00s NYC band formed by Scott McCloud and Johnny Temple (Girls Against Boys / Soulside) that also included fellow DC scene vets Geoff Turner (Gray Matter), Charles Bennington (High Back Chairs) and Nick Pelliciotto (Edsel), are getting back together for three East Coast shows in December. Apart from a short set as part of DC venue The Black Cat’s 15th anniversary in 2014, these are New Wet Kojack’s first proper shows in over 20 years.
The run starts in Kingston at Tubby’s on December 1, then hits Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus on December 2, and DC’s Black Cat on December 3.
Mixing their punk/post-punk influences with a smoky, jazzy noir-lounge vibe, New Wet Kojak released two albums for Touch and Go in the ’90s and then signed to Beggars Banquet, releasing two albums in the early ’00s before calling it quits. Check out some of their music below.
