Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Merce Lemon shared a gorgeous new single, “Will You Do Me a Kindness,” back in March, and now she’s followed that with the announcement of a new album. Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild is due out on September 27 via Darling Records, and you can see the cover art and tracklist below.
The first single is “Backyard Lover,” whose earnest folk is well seasoned with twang and some noise, building to a country-fried guitar solo. “So many of my songs are touched by and explore death specifically in relation to the loss I experienced of my best friend when I was fifteen years old,” she says. “That loss has forever changed me and who I am in my relationships to lovers, friends, family.” Watch the accomapnying video, which was shot by Merce’s father, Greg Pierce, on 16mm film, below.
