Private Mind hail physically and sonically from the Long Island melodic hardcore/emo sound spearheaded by bands like Silent Majority (whose recent Long Island reunion show was opened by Private Mind), and they’ve been honing their own fresh update on that sound across a self-titled 2020 debut EP and standalone 2022 single. Now they’ve announced their first full-length, The Truth You See, due October 11 via Triple B Records. The LP was produced, engineered, and mixed by Greg Thomas.
From the artwork to the album title to the sound of lead single “In Vain,” Private Mind clearly have a strong love for the bands of the ’90s and early 2000s, but similar to likeminded peers like Koyo and Stand Still, they really know how to make it their own. “In Vain” has the hooks, the aggression, and the energy–everything you need to expertly toe that line between hardcore and emo. Private Mind will be opening for The Backup Plan at Amityville Music Hall on September 22 alongside Take My Chances (Heads vs Breakers tribute set), Carcosa, Heavy Hex, and Effective Relief; and they also open the Stretch Arm Strong, With Honor, and This Is Hell show at Amityville Music Hall on October 21.
