Brooklyn’s Lip Critic have announced their debut album, Hex Dealer, which will be out May 17 via Partisan Records. It was produced by the band’s Bret Kaser and Connor Kleitz, and features contributions from Ghösh, ID.Sus, and Izzy Da Fonseca.
Hex Dealer includes previously released singles “It’s The Magic” and “The Heart,” and the new single is “Milky Max” which has Kaser shouting “All my life I just wanted to live / Now I gotta die just because of what I did” over Lip Critic’s signature two-drummer breakbeat attack. There’s strong ’90s electronica/industrial vibes with what they do, and you can check all three songs out below.
The videogame being played in the the “Milky Max” video was designed by Jesse Natter, brother of Lip Critic drummer Ilan Natter, and it’s actually playable. Give that a whirl here.
Lip Critic play Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on Thursday (2/22) with Prize, AFK, and DJ Lion. They will also play a couple Northeast shows with Smut ahead of SXSW, including Asbury Park’s Wonder Bar on March 9. Later in the spring they’ll head to the UK before their first proper North American tour.
