Chicago trio Lifeguard have announced their debut album, Ripped and Torn, which will be out June 6 via Matador. They made the album with No Age’s Randy Randall producing.
The first single from the album is “It Will Get Worse,” a jagged punk number that sounds like it could’ve come out in 1980, mixing anthemic melodies and scratchy guitars. You can watch the video below.
Lifeguard will be in NYC this weekend for Rough Trade’s Indieplaza 2025 Record Store Day celebration at Rockefeller Plaza, playing as part of the free daytime lineup that also includes The Hives, Scowl, clipping., and more.
They’ve also announced a summer tour that includes a show at Tubby’s Kingston on July 6. There’s no NYC proper show as of now but maybe that will get announced after they’ve played Indieplaza. All dates are below.
