Lauryn Hill will celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill this fall on a US tour. She’ll co-headline the dates with the rest of The Fugees, who played their first show in 15 years in 2021, then cancelled their planned reunion tour in 2022; earlier this year they joined Lauryn at her Roots Picnic set, as well. The shows begin in October in Newark, and run through November 9 in Seattle. See all dates below.
The tour-opening Newark show is on October 17 at Prudential Center, and there’s a Brooklyn show a couple of nights later on October 19 at Barclays Center. Tickets to all dates go on sale Friday, August 25 at 10 AM local, with various presales starting Wednesday, August 23 at 10 AM.
Ahead of the new dates, Lauryn also plays Global Citizen Festival in NYC on Central Park on September 23, with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Megan Thee Stallion, Conan Gray, Stray Kids, and more.
“The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator,” Lauryn says. “I wrote love songs and protest songs— (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past. I loved music, I loved people, I truly felt grateful to God for my life, and genuinely blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music. I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity and LOVE leading the way.”
Earlier this year, Pras Michel of Fugees was found guilty of 10 felony counts on charges related to political conspiracy, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of China. He faces up to 20 years in prison, but has not been sentenced at this time. No word on how this could affect the tour.
