Outspoken, exuberant UK punk duo Lambrini Girls (Phoebe Lunny and Lilly Macieira) have announced their debut album, Who Let the Dogs Out, that’s released January 10 via City Slang. They made the album with Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox, and it was mixed by Seth Manchester (Battles / Lingua Ignota / Model/Actriz).
The album was made in two quick, intense sessions. ‘I’ve just got to let these songs be what they want to be’,” Lilly says. “In the first session it was very much like, ‘no, this has to be really thought out,’ but by the second I was like, ‘I’ve got to let go a little bit, see what comes out and just see it through.’ Trust the process kind of thing. That was a really big part of writing this album. It’s also a big part of why the energy is similar to our live shows, because it’s just how we are.”
The first single is “Big Dick Energy” which turns that phrase on it head. “Man comes in many forms, from world leaders to tech CEOs and humble softboys. But what unites them? Society has celebrated their supposed massive figurative and literal dicks, which they constantly flaunt. Why? Toxic masculinity,” Phoebe and Lilly say. “Fuelling their sense of entitlement and insecurities leads to harmful behaviours. Which when left unchecked, means we have to deal with the fallout. The definition of ‘Big Dick Energy’ is a confidence that doesn’t need proving. Which begs the question, how big is that dick in reality? If you haven’t figured this out by now, it’s not that big.”

Lambrini Girls spent the summer on tour, including dates with Amyl and The Sniffers, and they’ll open for IDLES at two London shows in November. They’ll also be back in NYC in December for shows at Union Pool on 12/3 and Baby’s All Right on 12/4. All dates are listed below.
