Montreal band La Sécurité are releasing Stay Safe! REMIXED this Friday (3/8) via Mothland, featuring six new versions of songs from the band’s great debut album, reworked by Freak Heat Waves, Born at Midnite (mem TOPS), The Mauskovic Dance Band, Dur Club (Le Couleur), Malépart (Choses Sauvages) and more.
We’ve got the premiere of the remix of “Serpent,” arguably the hookiest song on Stay Safe!, by Standard Emmanuel, aka Félix Bélisle who plays in La Sécurité as well as Chose Sauvages. The original is more nagging synthpunk but this remix takes it into dark electro-disco territory. It’s a great remix — listen to that and the original below.
La Sécurité are in NYC this week for the New Colossus Festival and are playing the BrooklynVegan showcase on Thursday at Knitting Factory @ Baker Falls, along with Prewn, Meagre Martin, NOBRO, Holiday Ghosts, MX Lonely, Robber Robber, and Silent Mass.
